His statements are not shocking. It is the general mentality of conservatives/republicans. The sad thing is that the media is just reporting the out of touch and callous state of the conservatives. The republican party thinks there should not be ANY government programs unless it is directed towards businesses- preferably big business. You even have republicans that are against school lunch programs and disaster relief. They have become an anarchist group, who somehow think that big business(who is not accountable to the public in any way) is a more valid form of governance than government(who are elected by the people). The democrats and liberals at this point, can't really debate them since the GOP stands for nothing. How do you debate someone when they think government is inherently evil as if it is a foreign entity? How do you debate someone who thinks taxes are inherently evil. I am not talking about people who want low taxes, but people who think the idea of progressive taxation is evil... -moionfire
