Tragedy

As a Virginian, this tragedy hits home. Blacksburg is a rural area in the Mountains of my state. The Virginia Tech murder carnage was the deadilest mass murder by one person in an university ever. Questions still linger about the events. The shooter was a South Korean named Cho Seung-Hui . He killed 31 people. 2 shootings occured in the morning and close to the afternoon. Cho wrote perverted plays and is described as a loner. It's interested to note that the shootings was on Holocaust rememberance day plus number symbolism is presence (i.e. 4/16 =11 if you add the digits together). Cho also used anti-depressants and he wore sunglasses. A convocation rally occured in VA Tech yesterday. It was very "multicultural" with a rabbi, A Muslim, a Lutheran, and others. Even poetry was proclaimed by Nikki Giovanni. She was a black poet that I knew many years ago. President George W. Bush and Governor Tim Kaine was there. It was interesting to see the people cheering for their school. This even could be a bad push for more gun control laws. Gun rights has always been an individual right.

Another bad thing about this tragedy is the call for more gun laws. There are tons of gun laws in America, yet crimes continue. Also, guns in the university could have prevent Sho Seung-Hui from murdering innocent human beings. This further reminds me that the government can never protect us 100%. Katrina proved that when folks had to use guns to fend off violent street gangs, yet New Orleans banned gun even from peaceful old ladies. The gun Cho utilized wasn't even a machine gun, but a 9 milimeter. Security had sub machine guns. VA Tech banned concealed carry guns in their vicinity (concealed gun carry laws have decreased crime in certain areas of the nations). Larry Pratt and Aaron Zelman had been good followers of the Second Amendment for decades. I respect the Second Amendment. This really isn't a liberal or conservative issue. We Americans should thank God that we have a Bill of Rights (unlike some other nations). Mistakes were made by the security. The Security delayed when 2 were killed. I don't know all of the facts now, so we need to be careful in finding all of the truth. It's very funning that Gore is talking about global warming, but environmentalists reported that a record 100 below zero temperature was recorded. Some breaking news is that Supreme Court just issued a 5-4 ruling said the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act will continue. I'm Pro-Life through and through.
